A Case of Neurilemmoma of the Larynx

Abstract
A neurilemmoma is characteristically an encapsulated and solitary benign tumor and it arises from the schwann cell sheath of the nerve fibers.
Laryngeal neurilemmoma is very rare benign tumor. This tumor is less common than the neurofibroma and usually involves the aryepiglottic fold and false cord. Symptoms again correspond with the slow growth of this lesion and can include a sensation of fullness in the throat, voice change, or the slow development of respiratory distress. Again, treatment should consist of conervative but complete removal by an approach consistent with tumor size and location.
Recently we have experienced one case of neurilemmoma of the larynx, and by the way diagnosis was not made until the time of surgery. The tumor was completely removed by transhyoid pharyngotomy and confirmed histopathologically as neurilemmoma of the larynx.
